Oxford Parkinson’s Disease Centre Open Day 2025
On Monday 22nd September. 2025, the Oxford Parkinson’s Disease Centre (OPDC) held its eighth Open Day at the Leonardo Hotel, Oxford. The day was attended by around 150 people and provided an amazing opportunity for our speakers to give talks in some key research areas within the Parkinson’s world.
The majority of attendees were patients and families of those involved with the Oxford Discovery Cohort, which was set up in 2010. The long-term observational study of Parkinson’s Disease and prodromal Parkinson’s Disease is a world-leading biomarker cohort to better understand how Parkinson’s Disease develops over time, and how it can affect people in various ways.
The day was opened by Claire Bale, Associate Director of Research for Parkinson’s UK, and was followed by a welcome by Professor Michele Hu. The day was filled with talks from guest speakers who are all experts in their research area, and then closed with a round table Q & A, which was led by Caroline Rassell, the Chief Executive at Parkinson’s UK.
It was a wonderful day, and a great opportunity to also enable OPDC to give back to our cohort and show our thanks and appreciation for all they do!

Oxford Parkinson’s Disease Centre Open Day 2024
The seventh OPDC Open Day was held in Oxford on Tuesday 10 September 2024 at the Leonardo Hotel, Oxford.
Of the 140 attendees, the majority were patients and families of the Oxford Discovery Cohort. Set up in 2010, this long-term observational study of Parkinson’s and prodromal Parkinson’s is a world-leading Parkinson’s biomarker cohort which has provided an excellent opportunity to understand more about how Parkinson's develops over time, and how Parkinson’s affects different people in different ways.

Oxford Parkinson’s Disease Centre Open Day 2023
On Monday 5th June 2023, Professor Michele Hu and the Oxford Parkinson’s Disease Centre (OPDC) hosted their public open day at the Oxford Spires Hotel, Abingdon Road, Oxford.
The last OPDC open day was held before the COVID pandemic in 2019 and it was an absolute joy to bring together so many people for the first time in 3 years, to be able to show and discuss some of the research happening within OPDC, and the world of Parkinson’s disease.
With almost 200 attendees, the day was a great success. There were various talks recorded throughout the day, with many of the attendees being participants of the research being conducted within OPDC. Please follow the link to view the recorded talks.

On 16 September 2019 over 200 members of our Discovery cohort came to the Jury’s Inn, Oxford to hear about our latest research and share their views.
