The University of Oxford recognises the demands of work/life balance and offers a range of family-friendly policies:

The Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics is actively promoting the provision of a family friendly working environment and has created a leaflet (SSO required for DPAG Intranet) to help you find out more about what is available to you.

Childcare and other carer responsibilities

The University offers a range of childcare services for staff and student parents, including holiday play schemes, and works closely with various professional bodies to continue to enhance its provision.

Work+Family Space (formerly My Family Care) is a benefit the University provides for all employees, offering access to emergency back-up childcare and adultcare, a 'speak to an expert' phone line and a wide range of guides and webinars.

scheduling inclusive meetings

When arranging meetings and seminars, we endeavour to schedule them at a time that allows for the widest attendance, ideally between the hours of 10am and 3pm. We encourage members of the Department to try to find a convenient venue so that there isn’t additional travel time for attendees and consider remote access, such as teleconferencing. For seminars that are out of core hours we encourage staff to consider lecture recording. The Department promotes giving plenty of notice for meetings and seminars and providing an agenda, where relevant, at least a week beforehand to give attendees the opportunity to make alternative arrangements to attend if they can, or to nominate someone to attend on their behalf.
