Members of our Department have won both the student and non-student poster prizes at this year's Oxford BHF Centre of Research Excellence Annual Symposium, held on November 22nd.

Many congratulations to our prize winners:

 

Non-student Poster Prize Winner: Dr Filipa Simões (Riley group): Macrophages directly contribute collagen to transient scar formation during zebrafish heart regeneration

Commended for the non-student Poster Prize: Dr Nikita Ved (Sparrow group): A novel approach to understanding how pre-gestational diabetes induces embryonic birth defects

 

Student Poster Prize Winner: Tonia Thomas (Smart group): Investigating the role of endocardial notch signalling for neovascularisation of the heart after myocardial infarction

 

Three other members of our Department gave talks at the symposium:

Dr Kerstin Timm (Tyler group): Mitochondrial dysfunction in a rat model of doxorubicin-induced heart failure assessed by hyperpolarized magnetic resonance spectroscopy

Dr Oliver Stone (Riley group): On the origin of blood and lymphatic vessels

Dr Richard Tyser (Srinivas group): Initiation of the first heartbeat; from single cells to coordinated contraction
