The 2023 Sherrington Talks took place on Friday 9 and Friday 16 June, presented by third year DPAG DPhil Students.
Four prize winners were selected by a judging panel comprised of members of the Graduate Studies Committee. Prizes of Blackwell’s gift tokens - £50 to each of the two winners and £25 to each of the two runners-up - will be presented on Friday 7 July at the Sherrington Road Street Party 2023.
The standard was extraordinarily high this year. Congratulations to the four prize winners:
WINNERS - Conan O'Brien AND Antara MAjumdar
Conan O'Brien is supervised by Professors Ana Domingos and David Greaves. Conan gave a presentation on Friday 9 June titled: "Investigating the form and function of adrenal gland macrophages".
Antara Majumdar is supervised by Dr Armin Lak and Associate Professor Simon Butt. Antara gave a presentation on Friday 16 June titled: "Graded Representations of Economic Value Across Frontal Cortex".

RUNNERS-UP - Benjamin Bréant and Kaitlyn Dennis
Benjamin Bréant is supervised by Professors Vladyslav Vyazovskiy, David Bannerman and Trevor Sharp. Benjamin gave a presentation on Friday 16 June titled: "Investigating the dissociated states induced by psychedelics".
Kaitlyn Dennis is supervised by Associate Professor Lisa Heather and Professor Damian Tyler. Kaitlyn gave a presentation on Friday 9 June titled: "Selective palmitoylation of CD36 is associated with metabolic dysfunction in the type 2 diabetic heart".

On Friday 9 June, cardiac and metabolism themed talks were chaired by Associate Professor Carolyn Carr and neuroscience themed talks were chaired by Professor Vladyslav Vyazovskiy. On Friday 16 June, cardiac and metabolism themed talks were chaired by Associate Professor Samira Lakhal-Littleton and neuroscience themed talks were chaired by Dr Armin Lak.
