The Academy of Medical Sciences has today announced the election of 54 exceptional biomedical and health scientists to its prestigious Fellowship, including Professor Dame Molly Stevens.

The new Fellows have been recognised for their remarkable contributions to advancing medical science, ground-breaking research discoveries and translating developments into benefits for patients and the wider public. Their work exemplifies the Academy’s mission to create an open and progressive research sector that improves health for everyone.

The expertise of Fellows elected spans a wide range of clinical and non-clinical disciplines, from infectious disease and stem cell biology to veterinary medicine and dementia research.

They join an esteemed Fellowship of 1,450 researchers who are at the heart of the Academy’s work, which includes nurturing the next generation of scientists and shaping research and health policy in the UK and worldwide.

Professor Dame Stevens comments, ‘I’m really honoured to be elected to the Academy of Medical Sciences, and I want to thank my fantastic team—past and present—for making this possible. Working with such a smart, collaborative, and creative group has been an incredible privilege.

A big focus of our work is making sure that innovation in diagnostics and therapeutics leads to more equitable access to healthcare. We’re always asking how we can design technologies that are not only cutting-edge but also affordable and practical for use in low-resource settings. It’s been especially rewarding to see the impact of our work on global health challenges.

I’m excited to join the Academy and look forward to the opportunities it offers to advocate for more equitable access to healthcare.’
