DPAG returned to the Oxford University Museum of Natural History for the second Away Day on Tuesday 3rd July 2018.
All members of the Department, including academic, admin and support staff, students and postdoctoral scientists, were invited to come along for a day of talks and presentations, and lunch on the Museum's spectacular gallery over-looking the marvel that is the dinosaur skeletons.
The day was the perfect setting to celebrate our joint successes, from across the Department, as well as to bring our community together with a shared purpose and the promotion of inclusivity.
Feedback for last year's Away Day was certainly positive, but was constructive for planning this year's Away Day. Thus refreshment breaks were longer than last year, and there was more representation from junior and female researchers as well as admin and support staff.
Presentations included plans for the future, Pint of Science and department-produced films. You can view the programme for the day here.
The day was well received; a survey that was circulated following the event revealed that 86% of guests found the event useful and 84% felt that the event highlighted the work of the Department. Other positive feedback revealed that the event made guests feel like part of a community and gave them a better understanding of the Department's values (over 70%).
Once again feedback from the survey will be important for organising an even better Away Day next year!
