Dr Siow graduated from King’s College London (BSc Nutrition, PhD Cardiovascular Physiology) and was a postdoctoral associate in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, University of Cambridge. He has been Director of Ageing Research at King’s College London since 2016 and an Elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology since 2013. He was previously Vice-Dean (International) of the Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine at King’s College London and has been a visiting senior academic at the University of Zurich. He undertook a sabbatical with Unilever at their global R&D Centres which led to establishment of the Unilever Bioscience Innovation Hub at King’s College London. He remains a Science Advisor for Unilever and other Multinational Corporates and SMEs, focusing on cardiovascular ageing, nutrigenomics and epigenetic mechanisms in healthspan and longevity. He is a Specialty Chief Editor of Frontiers in Ageing, an Associate Editor of Frontiers in Nutrition, a member of the Advisory Boards of The Lancet Healthy Longevity and the UK All Party Parliamentary Group for Longevity. He is also the UK Lead of the International Society on Ageing and Disease and on the Board of the European Society for Microcirculation and the Society for Free Radical Research (Europe).
Dr Siow’s research focuses on cardiovascular redox biology, nutrigenomics and physiological oxygen. He has published over 70 peer-reviewed papers and has been awarded over £4m in collaborative research funding.
