Paul’s research career has been devoted to understanding the function of a region of the brain called the basal ganglia in normal conditions and in the models of Parkinson's. Working with Peter Magill, their range of expertise stretches from understanding the role of individual neurons, the function of neurons in circuits, and how the function and dysfunction of circuits affects behaving animals.
