Michele Hu
Professor of Clinical Neuroscience and Consultant Neurologist

After obtaining her medical degree (University of London, 1993) Michele was awarded an Action Research Training Fellowship and PhD in an imaging study of Parkinson’s brain function before completing her neurology specialist training in London and Oxford. In 2005 Michele set up a consultant-led clinical Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders service in Oxfordshire and Milton Keynes.
She is NIHR Parkinson’s Thames Valley Research Director, and co-Principle Investigator of the Oxford Parkinson’s Disease Centre and is based at the Neurology Department, Level 3, West Wing, John Radcliffe hosptial, Oxford.
She leads the Clinical Theme of the Parkinson’s UK-funded Monument Discovery Award, which aims to recruit people with PD and their families from the Thames Valley area in the UK to understand and target the early pathological pathways in Parkinson’s. Research interests include the use of longitudinal clinical cohorts and brain imaging to develop biomarkers for the early diagnosis and prognostication of Parkinson’s.
