Professor Samira Lakhal-Littleton is part of a team of international collaborators awarded 15million euros, including 2.6million euros to Oxford, from the European Research Council. The objective is to advance translational research into heart failure, working together with partners at Worclaw Medical University and Charité, Universitätsmedizin Berlin.
She comments, 'Despite advances in clinical care, heart failure remains a leading cause of mortality and morbidity. In many areas, progress has stalled in the face of knowledge gaps. This research programme is about addressing those knowledge gaps by bridging preclinical and clinical evidence. What we learn could radically transform the management of heart failure. I am excited to be part of the team that has taken on this challenge.'
