The 2015 Mabel FitzGerald Lecture was given by Professor Dame Linda Partridge in the Large Lecture Theatre of the Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics at 4pm on Thursday 22nd January 2015.
Dame Linda is the Weldon Professor of Biometry at the Department of Genetics, Evolution and Environment at University College London, Director of UCL ’s Institute of Healthy Ageing and Founding Director of the Max Planck Institute for the Biology of Ageing in Cologne. She specialises in the biology and genetics of ageing (biogerontology) and age-related diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease.
She obtained her DPhil from the University of Oxford. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including giving the Royal Society Croonian Lecture in 2009 and a DBE for Services to Science. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society, the Academy of Medical Sciences, the European Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. In March 2009, the UKRC announced Dame Linda as one of six Women of Outstanding Achievement in Science, Engineering and Technology.
