From 23-34 July DPAG was delighted to host an important conference for the International Society for Automatic Neuroscience, Oxford ISAN 2024: Cardiac Neurobiology: Concepts to Clinic.

The autonomic nervous system regulates all aspects of normal cardiac function, and is recognised to play a critical role in the pathophysiology of many cardiovascular diseases. As such, the value of neuroscience-based cardiovascular therapeutics is increasingly evident. This meeting brought together the international community working in the field with ample time to catch up with colleagues and establish new connections.

The programme included talks by DPAG scientists as well as colleagues in the field drawn from many different countries around the world. Conference attendees took advantage of the summer weather to mingle outside in the sunshine, and in the evening enjoyed a reception held in the beautiful and historic surroundings of the Oxford University Museum of Natural History.

Head of Department Professor David Paterson commented, ‘This was an intense academic programme that packed in state-of-the-art science from around the world, which was pleasing to hear and host.’
