“Body, Brain, Behavior: Three Views and a Conversation” describes brain research on the frontiers, with a particular emphasis on the relationship between the brain and its development and evolution, peripheral organs, and other brains in communication. The newly published book expands current views of neuroscience by illustrating the integration of these disciplines.
This book illustrates how natural dialogue between scientists from diverse areas of interest and scholarship related to body, brain, and behavior serves as a web to connect elemental topics into a global Neuroscience of Life - Joy Hirsch, PhD
By using a novel method of conversations between three scientists of different disciplines, cellular, endocrine, developmental, and social processes are seamlessly woven into topics that relate to contemporary living in health and disease. This book is a critical read for anyone who wants to become familiar with the inner workings of the nervous system and its intimate connections to the universe of contemporary life issues.
The Oxford neuroscience community gathered in the Blakemore Lecture theatre to hear from the three authors, who each outlined their perspectives in three insightful talks. Endocrine Physiologist Dr Tamas Horvath delivered “The hunger view on body, brain and behavior”, Social Neuroscientist Dr Joy Hirsch gave a talk entitled "Brain-to-Brain" and DPAG's Developmental Neuroscientist Professor Zoltán Molnár talked about "The developing brain".
The lectures were followed by a reception in the Sherrington Foyer, where copies of the book were available for attendees to read while they networked with their colleagues and the three authors.
