What's on?
The Department hosts a number of social events throughout the year and you are also encouraged to attend the Garden Party and any other University events that may be of interest - a selection are listed below.

Start of Academic Year Lunch
Once a year the Head of Department invites all staff and students, to welcome everyone who has joined the department in the last twelve month, to the Start of the Academic Year Lunch, a fantastic opportunity to meet your colleagues and make friends.
John Burdon Sanderson Prize Lecture
A lecture series hosted by the Cardiac Science Centre, in honour of the 19th century physiologist, John Burdon Sanderson, after whom the Centre is named after.
Mabel Fitzgerald Prize Lecture
In 2015, in connection with our Athena SWAN Bronze Award, for which we now have been awarded Silver, the Department started a new annual lecture series to be held in honour of Mabel FitzGerald, who had carried out vital research in the Department in the early 20th century.
Professional Services Conference
Open to all staff who work at the University of Oxford, in particular in administrative and support roles, the UAS Conference Series provide further information on the University's administrative functions.
Garden Party
Every two years, in the summer, all members of the Department attend the Garden Party, a chance to build a sense of togetherness within the Department and a perfect opportunity to socialise and network in a relaxed setting.
Charles Sherrington Prize Lecture
An annual lecture in honour of Charles Sherrington, one of the department's greatest neurophysiologists.
Marianne Fillenz Memorial Lecture
In 2018, the Department hosted the inaugural Marianne Fillenz Lecture, in honour of the physiologist who had worked and taught here in the later half of the 20th century.

There are a variety of social events throughout the year, which all members of the Department are welcome to, including a Christmas party and summer Street Party.
