Departmental events throughout the year
The Department hosts a number of social events throughout the year and you are also encouraged to attend the Garden Party and any other University events that may be of interest - a selection are listed below.
Please be aware that due to the current Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, a large number of events across the University have been postponed, cancelled or are being moved online. We therefore recommend that you check individual event listings on the DPAG Website's Seminar Listings and Oxford Talks for the most up-to-date information and contact the organiser via the email address provided with any questions.
Once a year the Head of Department invites all the staff, to welcome everyone who has joined the department in the last twelve month, to the Newcomers Lunch, a fantastic opportunity to meet your colleagues and make friends.
Mabel Fitzgerald Lecture
In 2015, in connection with our Athena SWAN Bronze Award, for which we now have been awarded Silver, the Department started a new annual lecture series to be held in honour of Mabel FitzGerald, who had carried out vital research in the Department in the early 20th century.
Open to all staff who work at the University of Oxford, in particular in administrative and support roles, the UAS Conference Series provide further information on the University's administrative functions.
In the summer, all members of the Department attend the annual Garden Party, a chance to build a sense of togetherness within the Department and a perfect opportunity to socialise and network in a relaxed setting.
Marianne Fillenz Lecture
In 2018, the Department hosted the inaugural Marianne Fillenz Lecture, in honour of the physiologist who had worked and taught here in the later half of the 20th century.
There are a variety of social events throughout the year, which all members of the Department are welcome to, including Happy Hours and a Christmas party.
