PhD

Postdoctoral Research Scientist

I am a Postdoctoral Researcher at Professor Ana Domingos laboratory. Our work aims to provide novel insights into the intersection of Neuroscience, Immunology and Metabolism, with applications in obesity and other metabolic diseases. I am a former postdoctoral research fellow at the Obesity and Comorbidities Research Center (OCRC) in Brazil, where I studied the relationship between peripheral NPY signalling, skeletal muscle function and thermogenesis. I completed my PhD in Metabolism and Neurosciences at the State University of Campinas (Brazil) in 2023, under the supervision of Professor Licio Velloso. We investigated the role of an exercise-induced metabolite in mice treated with high-fat diet, as well as its combination with a GLP-1 agonist and its effects in weight loss and thermogenesis. I have a specialisation in Clinical Research at the Harvard Medical School, with several years of experience as a TA in related courses. I also hold an MSc in Sciences of Nutrition, Exercise and Metabolism, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Science, from Unicamp/Brazil.
