Dr. Liu will aim to design and fabricate an artificial neuron, which could mimic the multifunctionality of biological neurons, in terms of sensing, processing and releasing various neurotransmitters. This artificial neuron can communicate with biological neural networks and contribute to the treatment of neurological disorders by sensing chemical signals from neurons and releasing therapeutic neurotransmitters.
