Ian Cone

Postdoctoral Research Scientist

I am a postdoctoral research scientist in the group of Rui Ponte Costa. My research is broadly focused on understanding how learning techniques from artificial intelligence can inform us about plasticity in the brain. I am particularly interested in how biophysically plausible learning rules can appropriately assign credit such that brain-like neural networks can develop the complex latent structure required for cognition and behaviour. I have previously studied methods of sequence learning in visual cortex and theories of splitter cell formation in the hippocampus.
