Benjamin Vallin
Postdoctoral neuronal cell biologist
I completed a PhD in Physiology, Physiopathology and Therapeutics at University Pierre et Marie Curie (Paris, France), in which I studied the role of cAMP signalling in pathological vascular remodelling. I then joined the group of Professor Roger Barker (Cambridge, UK) in 2018 to investigate post-transcriptional and post-translational modifications of alpha-synuclein in the context of Parkinson’s disease.
Building on this experience, I joined the Wade-Martins group in September 2021 and will study the transcriptional changes undergone by iPSC-derived dopaminergic neurons in response to patient-derived alpha-synuclein. We aim to describe and order the earliest events in the human neuronal response to pathological alpha-synuclein, which may help identify new targets for neuroprotective therapy.
