I am exploring the mechanisms underlying the anti-arrhythmic properties of Xu Su Ning, a licenced Chinese herbal medicine. Specifically, I am determining the effect of one of XSN's component compounds (isoliensinine) on NaV1.5 channels. By investigating the effect of this compound on sodium channel kinetics I hope to reveal the extent to which isoliensinine contributes to the anti-arrhythmic activity of XSN and evaluate its potential as a candidate novel anti-arrhythmic drug.
