Congratulations are in order to Graduate Student Sonali Munshaw, whose abstract submitted to the 21st International Vascular Biology meeting was selected for E-Poster presentation and awarded.

The International Vascular Biology (IVBM) meeting held every two years provides a forum to exchange ideas and results of cutting-edge research in the field of vascular biology for renowned scientists and clinicians from around the world. The 21st hybrid meeting, held in Seoul, South Korea, and online, featured all phases of research including basic, translational, and clinical science from 75 different areas of vascular biology. The meeting was attended by over 1200 participants with 270 invited lectures, 13 plenary session and 300 E-posters.

DPAG Graduate Student Sonali Munshaw from the Smart Group submitted an abstract entitled "Thymosin b4: A novel therapeutic to protect against aortic aneurysm" revealing a novel mechanism for regulating growth factor signalling to protect vessels against aortic aneurysm.

Aortic aneurysm is a degenerative vascular disease and a leading cause of mortality. Specifically, Sonali and her team have identified Thymosin β4 (Tβ4) to be a key regulator of LRP1-PDGFRβ endocytic signalling, for maintaining VSMC differentiation and vascular health, and therefore a promising candidate for treatment of this disease. Her abstract was selected for E-Poster presentation and was subsequently awarded.
