The Department would like to congratulate Rui Ponte Costa, who has just been awarded the title of Associate Professor.

Rui leads the Neural & Machine Learning group that leverages AI principles to develop a new generation of computational models of learning in the brain. In particular, the group focuses on understanding how (i) cortical circuits, (ii) neuromodulation and (iii) subcortical regions enable efficient credit assignment in the brain.

Rui comments, 'I’m honoured to receive the title of Associate Professor. This recognition reflects the support of my colleagues, the many collaborators I’ve worked with over the years, and the ongoing commitment to research and teaching that drives my work. I look forward to continuing to contribute to our academic community and to mentoring the next generation of scholars.'
