Dr Kingdon and Professor Paterson at the book launch
Dr Kingdon and Professor Paterson at the book launch

On 26 September our Head of Department Professor David Paterson hosted an event to celebrate the publication of Origin Africa – Safaris in Deep Time by Dr Jonathan Kingdon (Department of Biology, Oxford University). Dr Kingdon’s research area is the evolutionary biology and biogeography of African mammals. His book is a detailed look at how history, climate, geography and biology have resulted in diversity of life in Africa, and how it became the location for the evolution of Homo Sapiens.

The event featured a presentation by the Author in the Blakemore Lecture Theatre, followed by a book signing.
