Associate Professor Deborah Goberdhan has been elected on to the Board of the International Society for Extracellular Vesicles (ISEV), as one of three new European representatives, and only UK member, at their recent annual meeting in July 2020. The ISEV is the leading international professional society for extracellular vesicle (EV) research, with its headquarters currently in the USA. She is a ‘Member at Large’, serving on the Communications and Membership Committee.
Prof Goberdhan said: "I am delighted to have been elected on to the Executive Board of ISEV. Interest in extracellular vesicles (EV) has grown rapidly over the last few years, with particular focus on their application in treatment and diagnosis of a wide range of diseases, including cancer, heart and neurodegenerative diseases. I believe a better understanding of the fundamental mechanisms regulating EV biogenesis and functions is essential for the design of these clinical and translational studies. In my new role on the ISEV Board, I plan to call on my experiences in organising Oxosome, the Oxford EV interest group, and my research interests, which straddle basic and clinical science, to promote and help foster a more rigorous and multi-disciplinary approach to EV research".
