Dan Li smiling outside in a garden

Congratulations to Associate Professor Dan Li, who has been awarded a British Heart Foundation Project Grant to explore novel therapeutic strategies for Long QT Syndrome Type 1. This funding will enable the research team to leverage cutting-edge hiPSC-derived 3D human neurocardiac model systems to understand how NOS1AP, a key regulator of cardiac neuronal signalling can be targeted to improve patient outcomes. These sophisticated 3D tissue models combine patient-derived cardiomyocytes with sympathetic neurons, faithfully recapitulating the complex neuro-cardiac interactions that govern heart rhythm in living patients.

Associate Professor Li says, ‘I'm grateful to collaborate with Professor David Paterson as co-applicant and thankful to the BHF for supporting this exciting intersection of neuroscience and cardiology. I am looking forward to sharing our findings with the research community!’
