Zhengkun Chen

PhD

Novo Nordisk Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Zhengkun is a Novo Nordisk Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the research group of Professor Dame Molly Stevens at the University of Oxford. He earned his PhD in Chemistry from the University of Toronto, where his research focused on developing biomimetic materials and microfluidic devices to construct advanced in vitro skin models as alternatives to animal testing. Before pursuing his doctoral studies, he graduated with first-class honours in Biomedical Engineering from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His current research is dedicated to engineering human cardiac organoids as advanced platforms for disease modelling and drug screening. By integrating cutting-edge biomaterials, microfluidic technologies, and machine learning approaches, Zhengkun aims to enhance the physiological relevance, predictive power, and throughput of organoid systems. His work seeks to bridge the gap between in vitro models and human physiology, paving the way for more effective and personalized therapeutic strategies.
