My research focuses on the relationship between iron homeostasis and myocardial ageing with the aim of improving our understanding of cardiac ageing and related diseases. I investigate the impact of intravenous iron therapies on biomarkers associated with biological ageing of the heart in the context of iron deficiency. This work is supported by a Walter-Benjamin Fellowship from the German Research foundation (DFG). I completed my doctorate at the German Institute of Human Nutrition, where I explored the role of autophagy in cardiac ageing. My work examined age-related molecular, structural, and functional changes of the heart. During this period, I developed a strong interest in myocardial iron metabolism, which now forms the basis of my current research.
