I joined the Wade-Martins lab as part of the Oxford-GSK IMCM in 2023 to generate and differentiate induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) from fibroblasts taken from Parkinson’s disease patients that have been stratified. This is to investigate mechanistic differences between patient groups and reveal potential therapeutic targets. Previously, I reprogrammed T Cells from Alzheimer’s disease patients into iPSCs under Dr Sally Cowley at the James and Lillian Martin Centre. I completed my PhD at the University of Plymouth, where I studied glial sensitivity to ischaemia and cell death mechanisms. Prior to this I obtained my BSc in Biochemistry with Medical Biochemistry at the University of Leeds and completed a MSc in Molecular Medicine (Neuroscience) at the University of Sheffield. My research interests include iPSCs, neurodegenerative disease mechanisms and the role of glia in disease.
