Isabella Wijsman
DPhil Student
I completed my undergraduate degree in Neuroscience at the University of Exeter, with my third year at Harvard Medical School. During my time in the laboratory of Dr John Assad, I investigated dopamine signalling during self-initiated movement using in vivo fibre photometry and optogenetics. In my final year, I conducted research in the laboratory of Dr Yanfeng Zhang using ex vivo fast-scan cyclic voltammetry to study the cholinergic-dependent depression of dopamine release in the striatum. In October 2025, I joined the Cragg Group for my DPhil, where my research focuses on how novel glycine receptors shape dopamine and acetylcholine signalling in striatal circuits.
