Eva Bardol

Master's Student

As a medical student enrolled in a MD-PhD program, I completed three years of medical school in the University Claude Bernard Lyon 1 in France. Alongside medical school, I undertook several internships supervised by Dr Mathilde Bonnefond and Dr Anne Kosem at the Neuroscience Research Center in Lyon and by Dr Claude Desplan and Dr Bogdan Sieriebriennikov at the Department of Biology, New York University. For 2024-2025, I took a year off from medical school to obtain a master’s degree in Integrative Biology and Physiology-Neurosciences at Sorbonne University. Moreover, I had the opportunity to expand my training with courses at Pasteur’s Institute, Ecole Normale Supérieure and El Instituto de Neurociencias de Alicante. All of these trainings contributed in my strong interest for the neuroscience field on a cellular and molecular scale. I joined the Salman Group at DPAG in February 2025 as a master’s student. My project focuses on developing 3D in vitro models of the blood brain barrier and assess its integrity under physiological and pathological conditions including neuroinflammation and/or hypoxia. After graduating from my Master’s, I plan to go back to my medical studies to become a neurologist and pursue a PhD during residency.
