Elliot Queisser de Stockalper
BSc (Hons), MSc
DPhil Student
I am a DPhil (PhD) student in Professor Dame Molly Stevens DBE’s Group at the University of Oxford, affiliated with the Kavli Institute for Nanoscience Discovery and the Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics (DPAG).
My research focuses on the rational design and high-throughput screening of lipid nanoparticle (LNP) systems for advanced cancer therapy, integrating machine learning–driven optimisation with CRISPR-based strategies for gene modulation and therapeutic delivery. I am especially interested in the use of bio-derived lipid systems with enhanced biocompatibility and tunability, supported by in silico modelling approaches to predict nanoparticle behaviour and tropism.
Previously, I completed an MSc in Applied Cancer Science at the University of Oxford and a BSc (Hons) in Medical Biosciences at Imperial College London, graduating with first-class honours. I pursued research across molecular oncology, bioengineering, neurobiology, and infectious disease. This includes appointments at the Oxford Ludwig Cancer Research Institute with Professor Yang Shi, where I conducted pharmacological profiling and dose-response studies of small-molecule inhibitors in acute myeloid leukaemia (AML). I have also worked with Professor Paul Matthews OBE at the UK Dementia Research Institute on the establishment of iPSC-derived blood-brain barrier models to investigate permeability dynamics, multi-episodic insult, and associated inflammatory responses in Alzheimer’s disease. Additionally, I undertook visiting internships at the Imagine Institute/Necker Hospital, investigating germline mutations driving rare primary immunodeficiencies, including Chronic Granulomatous Disease (CGD).
Beyond the lab, I serve on the Graduate Common Room Committee of Green Templeton College, act as a departmental representative for DPAG, and contribute to student-led initiatives in start-up acceleration and bio & climate tech incubation. Feel free to reach out if you are interested in my research, pursuing a DPhil at the Kavli/DPAG, or want to exchange about translational science and entrepreneurship.
