Elizabeth Barrow

Postdoctoral Research Scientist

I am a Postdoctoral Researcher in Professor Richard Wade-Martins research group. My research utilises induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived dopaminergic neurons from patients with Parkinson’s disease. Parkinson’s disease is a neurodegenerative disease in which the dopaminergic neurons of the substantia nigra pars compacta exhibit selective vulnerability to cell death. This work aims to use iPSC-derived dopaminergic neurons to contribute to the validation of novel drug targets for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease, through the correction of the perturbations in cell physiology in dopaminergic neurons associated with the early stages of disease.
