Thomas Mulroney

Dr Thomas Mulroney studied Biochemistry at the University of Birmingham, UK. In 2016 he started his PhD supervised by Prof Anne Willis investigating nucleotide modifications in synthetic mRNAs and oligonucleotide drugs. During his PhD he worked at the Medical Research Council Toxicology Unit, the University of Cambridge Biochemistry Department, and AstraZeneca, funded by the Medical Research Council Integrative Toxicology Training Partnership. He received his PhD from Jesus College in 2021. Since his PhD, Dr Mulroney worked as a postdoctoral research scientist at the MRC Toxicology Unit investigating RNA therapeutics, funded by Wellcome Leap RNA Readiness and Response. He then joined the University of Oxford Engineered Biotechnology Research Group (Prof Harrison Steel), to investigate new technology for drug discovery and biosensing. Dr Mulroney currently works the Institute of Developmental and Regenerative Medicine, Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics, investigating new approaches to develop RNA therapeutics for cardiovascular disease, funded by the British Heart Foundation and the Medical Research Council.
