I completed a British Heart Foundation-funded DPhil working in the Paterson and Domingos labs from 2017-2021. My thesis title was: "The immune system and inflammation in cardiac dysautonomia during hypertension". During this project I identified a potential pathological role of macrophages in driving sympathetic neuron hyperactivity in a rat model of hypertension.
Having taken 4 years out of medical school to complete this, I have since returned my clinical studies but continue to undertake some research work in DPAG. I am particularly interested in the interactions of nervous and immune systems with cardiovascular disease.
