Ahmed Zaher

Senior clinical fellow in intensive care

Dr Ahmed Zaher is a Senior Clinical Fellow in Intensive Care Medicine at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. His research interest lies at the intersection of iron biology and myocardial injury, with a focus on how disrupted iron homeostasis — including hepcidin dysregulation and non-transferrin-bound iron pathways — drives cardiac remodelling in the context of acute and post-acute heart failure. Within the Lakhal-Littleton Group, his work aims to inform safer, more targeted iron repletion strategies in critically ill patients with cardiac disease.
