My research aims to bridge the gap between artificial learning systems and the brain. I am particularly interested in how core algorithmic principles from machine learning such as backpropagation and gradient-based optimisation can be implemented within the constraints of biological circuits. My work focuses on biologically plausible credit assignment in multilayer cortical networks, leveraging features of cortical neurons such as dendritic processing, interneuron-mediated feedback, and burst dynamics to implement a multiplexed error code.
