The effect of the lipid microenvironment on hypoxia signalling in breast cancer, compared with heart.

I am an Interdisciplinary Bioscience Doctoral Training Partnership student funded by the BBSRC. My DPhil project is collaborative between the Heather group and the Computational Biology and Integrative Genomics group led by Francesca Buffa in the department of Oncology.

I am interested in how diabetes and obesity are joint risk factors for both cancer and cardiac disease. Specifically, I will investigate the effect of the lipid microenvironment on hypoxia signalling in both the breast cancer and cardiac setting.
