The new annual lecture is held in honour of Sir Wilfrid Le Gros Clark, the Department’s former Chair of Anatomy, after whom the Le Gros Clark building is named, who was a leading figure in British anatomy.

Professor Dame Kay Davies, Professor of Genetics, first woman appointed Dr Lee's Professor of Anatomy at Oxford, first woman to become Head of Department for DPAG, University-wide champion of equality, and award winning scientist known for her work on Duchenne muscular dystrophy, has 'retired' after a lifetime's research, but remains Professor Emeritus at DPAG.

The Wellcome Trust has today announced that Dame Kay Davies, Dr Lee’s Professor of Anatomy at the University of Oxford, has been appointed as its Deputy Chairman. Dame Kay, who has been a Governor of the Trust since January 2008, will take up the role on 1st October 2013.
