A research consortium of DPAG/IDRM and University of Cambridge scientists have been awarded a major strategic grant by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) to answer the pressing long-standing questions of how the human heart grows, how it is put together, and how the different heart cells communicate with each other during pregnancy.

Congratulations are in order for Professor Jaideep Pandit, Professor of Anaesthesia and Fellow and Tutor in Medicine at St John’s College, who has been awarded the Sir Ivan Magill Gold Medal of the Association of Anaesthetists, the organisation’s most prestigious honour. He becomes only the 8th recipient of the Medal in the Association’s 90-year history.
Pioneering new software to analyse intracellular calcium signals

A collaborative team of UC Davis and University of Oxford researchers have developed an innovative new software tool – SparkMaster 2 – which will enable automatic analysis of calcium sparks which are known to cause cardiac arrythmias in a variety of disease settings. First and co-corresponding author Dr Jakub Tomek, who is a Sir Henry Wellcome Fellow based in DPAG's Zaccolo group, conducted this research as part of his fellowship year spent at UC Davis.
International collaboration aims to reveal key insights into Postpartum Depression

Computational neuroscientist Rui Ponte Costa joins DPAG

This September, Dr Rui Ponte Costa relocates his Neural and Machine Learning group to DPAG. He was previously a Senior Lecturer in Computational Neuroscience and Machine Learning at the University of Bristol. His research group focuses on producing AI-driven brain-wide computational models of learning.
