Olivier Gerrit de Jong

Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Exosome-based Therapeutics

Olivier de Jong is a postdoctoral researcher in the research group of Professor Matthew Wood at the Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics at the University of Oxford.

He completed his PhD at the Department of Nephrology and Hypertension at the University Medical Center in Utrecht, The Netherlands, where he studied the effects of cellular stress on endothelial cell-derived extracellular vesicles in the context of miRNA delivery, angiogenesis, and extracellular matrix remodeling.

His current research focuses on the following topics:

- Unraveling the cellular mechanisms underlying extracellular-vesicle mediated intercellular transfer of RNA
- Designing novel state-of-the-art tools to study intercellular functional transfer of RNA molecules at single cell accuracy
- Employing extracellular vesicles for therapeutic delivery of CRISPR/Cas9/12a complexes
- Targeted loading of small RNA molecules to extracellular vesicles for delivery of siRNA-based therapeutics
