Noelia Geribaldi Doldan
My research is a collaborative project between ISODA lab (University of Tsukuba) and Szele group (DPAG). We investigate new natural compounds and nutraceuticals and their effects on neurogenic niches in normal and pathological conditions. Neurogenesis occurs in the adult brain in two principal regions, the subventricular zone (SVZ) and the dentate gyrus (DG) of the hippocampus. Nowadays the development of strategies to promote proliferation and/or differentiation of NSCs constitute an important approach to solve neurodegenerative diseases or brain injury. With the use of different compounds provided in diet we can prevent the age-related problems and, also, other kind of diseases that course with neuronal lost.
I studied Biology at the University of Seville (B. Sc.) and I did my Master in Biomedicine at the University of Cadiz, Spain. In 2016 I obtained my Ph.D. from the University of Cadiz investigating the role of metalloprotesases on brain stroke. I also tested several natural compounds that improve neurogenesis in pathological conditions.
I joined Szele group and ISODA lab in June 2017 as part of a collaborative project between both Universities.
