FHS Student

My FHS project is investigating the effects of maternal iron deficiency on placental formation and congenital heart disease. Iron deficiency (ID) is the most common nutritional disorder worldwide, with iron deficiency anaemia affecting 32 million pregnant women. Therefore, through a greater understanding of high-risk environmental factors, better advice can be given to women planning pregnancy to reduce the incidence of environmentally caused congenital heart disease.
