Ksenia Musaelyan

Postdoctoral research scientist

My research interests include the functional role of adult neurogenesis and its involvement in neurological and neuropsychiatric diseases. My work in the Szele group is focused on models of neurodegenerative diseases and behavioural assays for the development of novel drugs targeting adult neuro- and glio-genesis.

I have obtained my PhD from the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience at King's College London. My PhD project was dedicated to the study of the role of the adult hippocampal neurogenesis and chronic inflammation in the neurobiology of depression. This work was supervised by Drs Sandrine Thuret, Cathy Fernandes and Prof. Carmine Pariante.
