Kirsti Brisk
Postgraduate Student
I completed a BSc in Biochemistry at the University of York. I have subsequently spent five years in diabetes research here at Oxford, the majority of which has been in DPAG. I am now studying for a Masters by Research with Carolyn Carr.
My current research focuses on mitochondrial number and structure in cardiomyocytes differentiated from human iPSC. I use mitochondrial development as an indicator of cardiomyocyte maturity in our model, comparing single layer cells with engineered heart tissue.
