Postdoctoral Research Scientist
Everton Agnes is a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in the Vogels group, based at the Centre for Neural Circuits and Behaviour. His research focuses on the theoretical aspects of synaptic plasticity mechanisms, specifically on models that account for the interplay of different synapses in learning.
Everton has a BSc in Physics, a MSc and a PhD in Theoretical Physics from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. While he was pursuing his PhD he spent nine months as an exchange student in the lab of Wulfram Gerstner at EPFL in Lausanne, Switzerland. After completing his doctoral studies Everton worked as a temporary Lecturer at the Federal University of Pampa, Brazil, before joining the Vogels group as a visiting researcher in 2015. Everton started as a postdoctoral research scientist in July 2017 with funding from the Leverhulme Trust. He is also part of the neurotheory initiative at the University of Oxford.
