Patients Active in Research

A Thames Valley scheme to increase patient, carer and public involvement in medical research at all stages.

Who it is for: anyone who would like to get involved with planning research.

The website also provides information about opportunities to take part in research studies and clinical trials.

This scheme is run by the NIHR Oxford Biomedical Research Centre and Unit (NHS/University partnerships).

Friends of OxDARE


An Oxford University scheme to share information about Oxford Dementia and Ageing Research (OxDARE) and to recruit volunteers to participate in ageing research.

Who it is for: older people (with or without dementia).

This scheme is run by OxDARE, which is part of the NIHR Oxford Biomedical Research Centre's Cognitive Health Working Group.

Join Dementia Research


A national service where people can register their interest in participating in dementia research.

Who it is for: anyone, with or without dementia, with an interest in research

This service is funded by the Department of Health in partnership with the Alzheimer's Society and Alzheimer's Research UK.

How to sign up: online via the website or by telephoning the Alzheimer's Society (0300 222 1122) or Alzheimer's Research UK (0300 111 5 111).


How to find Participants for Research Studies (and where to advertise your study)

1. To get patient involvement in the design of your research and/or to advertise a study in the Thames Valley area → Patients active in Research
