The Wade-Martins Group has achieved a Laboratory Efficiency Assessment Framework (LEAF) Silver award in recognition of its sustainable practices.

Sarah Pearce and Féodora Bertherat with their Silver Award certificate. The Award was presented at the Sheldonian Theatre as part of the Vice-Chancellor’s Awards for Environmental Sustainability event on Wednesday 13 July 2022.

The LEAF is an accreditation scheme designed to drive efficiency improvements by helping to identify practical steps to make the laboratory more sustainable.

The Wade-Martins Group were previously successful with being awarded the Bronze level in October 2021. A number of improvement areas were further identified to reach the Silver level of achievement including introducing sustainability inductions for existing and new lab members, making improvements to waste disposal and managing effective equipment maintenance and usage. The certificate was presented in a ceremony on Wednesday 13 July.

Professor Richard Wade-Martins said, “I am delighted that the Group has achieved the Silver award. Congratulations and well done to everyone involved, especially to DPhil student, odora Bertherat, Dr Gabriela Vilema Enriquez, and Research Manager, Dr Sarah Pearce, who led the audit on behalf of the Group.”
