Under the supervision of Heidi de Wet and Helen Christian, I investigate the role of ABCC5 in glutamate metabolism and signalling in prostate tumours.
I will use a multi-disciplinary approach involving cell culture, imaging, gene and protein expression as well as cryo-EM with the ultimate goal to understand the underlying mechanisms around ABCC5 involvement in prostate cancer.
I obtained my BSc degree in Molecular and Technical Medicine at Furtwangen University in Germany where I developed a particular interest in neurobiology and the functioning of the immune system. Afterwards, I undertook an MSc in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Freiburg working together with Prof. Ben Davis at the University of Oxford. Subsequently, I received an MPhil in Bioscience Enterprise from the University of Cambridge which focused on entrepreneurial and management skills regarding the drug development process and the translation of research to commercial products.
