Caitlin Ashcroft

DPhil Student

Caitlin graduated with a BA in Neuroscience from Keble College, University of Oxford in 2020.  

Her first experience of neuroscience research was an undergraduate research project in the lab of Dr Kerry Walker. Here she conducted human psychophysical experiments to examine the mechanisms underpinning pitch perception.

Caitlin then worked with Dr Adam Packer as a summer research student, using in vitro electrophysiological and histological methods to investigate the different cell types present in the mouse claustrum.

She is now undertaking her DPhil studies under the supervision of Dr Armin Lak, Dr Adam Packer, and Dr Kerry Walker. The focus of her current project is to explore the role of prefrontal cortex and claustrum interactions in decision-making in mice using a combination of in vivo electrophysiology, complex behavioural training, and optogenetic strategies.
