Prof. Oertel’s research interests focus on the diagnosis and treatment of neurodegenerative disorders (particularly Parkinson’s disease and atypical parkinsonian syndromes) as well as sleep disorders (especially  REM -sleep-behaviour-disorder and restless-legs-syndrome).

He is full professor for neurology and director of the Department of Neurology at the Philipps University Marburg, Germany as well as being the speaker of the Competence Network on Parkinson’s Disease and chairman of the German Parkinson Study Group. (OPDC Seminar)
