After a period of intense work and renovation, the Sherrington reception has reopened.

The remodel of the reception includes a new reception desk, and new furniture in keeping with the Art Deco style of the original building. A new floor has also been laid and the marble restored. New, glass doors open on to the reception which now has a light and spacious feel.

In addition to honouring the Department's architecture, the reception also benefits from a new lighting system which changes colour throughout the day, illuminating the ceiling. Professor Dames Kay Davies and Frances Ashcroft have their portraits displayed in the new foyer.

An image competition was launched amongst the graduate students to find new and dynamic artwork for the reception. The winning entry by Matthew Williamson hangs next to Dame Professor Ashcroft, and those who received special mention have their artwork represented on the banners which hang from the ceiling.
